Can tannoy owners give some ideas of amps for around £600 2nd hand that will work well with 15" hpd's.:)

Leak stereo 20, match made in heaven for Tannoys, but i'm biased, or Any Audio innovations or Audio Note

What about the Apollon from Greenhome Electronics? Very reasonable price, looks great and it's NEW!!!!!!!!!

Stereo 20's are all very well (oh yes indeedy ), but they're damned dangerous with no base plate, exposed valves and Gawd knows what wrong with them unless they have some sort of provenance to them. Same with some of the popular kit amps out there, where you have to be careful how well they've been made up.

Should have said ideally integrated and with built in phono.
Have an a.i. but didn't know if it would be a good match.

Audio Note Oto SE sound really nice on Tannoys but its at least double what you want to spend so not much help, have you not tried your AI on them

I'd say the AI should be great. Give it a whirl and let us know what you think.

At Scalford this year, my main speakers were Robin's (of the Wigwam) Tannoy 12 inch Golds. They sounded superb with my Unison Research Unico hybrid integrated amp - many folks reckoned the room was the "Best at the Show". The amps sell for the sort of money you are looking at - perhaps a teensy bit more.

The Tannoys also sounded amazing with my leetle Mini-T amp - as Jonboy and his Audionote amp designer chum can testify. ;)

I recently heard some Tannoys on a old Trio KA 8004 and it had loads of punch and detail not bad for an amp that was made in the early 70s

I can confirm that the sound was very good and bought a Mini T amp on the strength of it, Plenty of detail but i couldn't live it my own system just found it a bit fatiguing after a while, but we aren't all the same so give it a go Stu at £70 its worth checking out, Speedy Steve uses them on his horns if you are following that thread over on the otherside

I agree with you John The Trio's are very good, i use a ka 2002 in my other system on a pair of very easy to drive DCM Timeframes, it has been modified but it really does sound very good, it's got solid state punch with Valve like lovelyness, i havn't tried it on my Tannoys yet though

Nice one Stu! :)

I would think your AI500 would work well with the HPDs! What cabs are they in?

Berkeleys.
Want to make some big cabs for them...one day.

They do look the way to go alfie.
Ply is easy enough as we end of with a fair bit over.
