My street cred with our 20 something kids is high.
Off we went to the End of the Road Festival in Dorset this weekend.
Brilliant music, and a wonderful atmosphere. Absolultely knackered though as they had a good half mile track layed with huge size crushed aggregate...bloody nightmare to walk on and push heavy trolleys loaded with kit.
still, took me back to more youthful times..and here are a few snaps.
Love the last one. Couldn't resist.

not sure if this was an art installation...or a stage, but brilliant fun where anyone could have a go!

An incredible festival isn't it Steve, quite unique really and something different to the run of the mill festivals - sshhhh, don't tell everyone ;)

Yeah, it really is Tim. Mind you, I heard 8,000 people were there, so your secrets out!
the absence of rowdy/rude behavoir really struck me. Really really nice atmsophere. Except for the loos, which they might do with a few more of!
We softened the blow by stopping over at Cranbourne on Thursday night, having set up the tent already. Big softies.

I'm quite lucky, I only live 17 miles away, so no camping needed for me :)
(in fact I was in bed last night whilst Joanna Newsom was still screeching and plucking that harp!)

Oh, lucky is an understatement. Fiona is already looking to rent a cottage nearby rather than camp again.
In fact, the two artists I really wanted to see were Laura Marling and John Grant, but half way through Laura Marlings set, I was just so knackered and getting cold and tired I just knew we had to go because of the 4 hour journey home .
So I missed both. Always would have given Joanna Newsom a miss though...can't see what the fus is about.
Anyway...10 minutes after leaving (stuck behind a steam engine going down a steep hill !), it started raining...so glad to have got going.
Still...happy to have got up close to Tinarawen.

Shame you missed those, Laura was great as was JG. However, I have seen him better, he had no band, just him a violinist and some other guy on keys. A good performance, but he's better with Midlake as backing (imagine, Midlake as a backing band!).
I quite like Joanna Newsom (in small doses), in fact I have her 3 disc set 'Have One on Me', but I thought she was very dull last night, I could only manage 20 minutes and that was hard work. I wasn't the only one leaving either.

Ah, a steam engine..... that would have been from the Great Dorset Steam Fair, also on at the weekend and just down the road. Bad weekend for traffic, unless you know the back roads ;)

In case you are interested, Early Bird tickets go on sale tomorrow a.m. on the website, £130.00 + £5 for postage.
