Hi all,

Decided to investegate why the tweeter was not working on my newly accuired Technics SB 3500

and this is the case, the wires have pulled from the cone.

Can this be fixed? as i cant seem to find a replacment driver,

Cheers

If you are good with a soldering iron and all the original wires are still there, the ones that lead to the voice coil I mean. Not convinced it would be perfect but you might have trouble sourcing a replacement tweeter.

Yes, it should be repairable but it will require a steady hand and good eyesight.

NOT easy, I'd suggest sending it to a specialist unless you have a lot of soldering experience.

The guys at Wembley Loudspeakers seem to reckon they can fix most things which aren't obviously terminal. Might cost a bit though.

You are definately going to have to track down someone to repair that driver ;) I have been soldering for more years than i care to remember, but there is no way on this earth i'd be able to get a soldering iron through those holes (along with the tinsel leads & solder) & see what i was doing

Looks like a sealed back cone driver to me, there simply won't be any other way of getting to the connections on the cone

As it's a cone you may be lucky & find a replacement on a different model Technics speaker :)
