Hi, Said hi in the Username thread, but hi again.
Looking for opinions of the Celestion Ditton 15xr.
Not known to me but I am interested in a pair to keep.
Other equipment is Marantz cd6000 ose, modded with clock.
Passive volume control, Blue Alps, World Audio Kel84 Valve power amp.

cheers

Great speaker, pretty limited. Try something further up the Ditton range, 22's, 44's or even 66's if you can afford them.

Our spritual leader Marco here uses 15XR's in his lounge regularly I understand, although he now has some Ditton 66's to go with his usual Lockwood Major Tannoys :)

I never cared for Ditton 15 "anything," finding them totally outclassed in the mid 70's when they were around - band-limited in the treble and with a ploddy bass which may be rather better with modern sources. There was a replacement I think, called the Ditton 150 which seemed to be based? on the excellent little Ditton 100's and 110's (a pair came up on ebay recently).

Ditton 15XR's come up regularly on fleabay, but I'd still not pay much over £50 for them (some eBay prices are stupidly high, and some suckers pay 'em too!!! :( ).

The later Celestion DL range was rather better I believe and people who own the larger versions (DL6 and 8) seem to like them very much.
