Hello.

I'm looking in to a new preamplifier for my Quad II's (Modified by Mr. Croft himself) and I've seen the Micronaught preamplifier which is just the right size for my cabinet (when I get it back from the joiners).

The Micronaught is no longer available (as far as I know) and came in two breeds, a battery powered version and a mains powered version.

Does anyone have any experience of these pre's?

Another pre I'm looking at is the 'Basic 25'.

My current preamplifier is one of these but it's kicking too much heat for my cabinet and I can't vent it either.

But it sounds fooking brilliant... A very rich sound, lot's of bass etc. Shunted, gas valve regulated design made by Edmund Lam with an output of 2volts!

As I understand it, Glenn had little to do with many of the products which hit the market in the 5 years prior to last Spring when the latest Micro 25 and Micro Basic appeared.

Glenn reckons that his latest offerings are the best he's made to date (he would say that wouldn't he) but they are certainly excellent and very good value.
