I have some newly acquired Audio Physic Virgos so I need to move these wonderful SD Acoustic SD1 speakers on.

I'd honestly put them up against any £2k RRP modern speaker ... and I'd expect the SD1s to win on sound quality.

4 foot tall, 15 inches wide, about 12 inches deep. Must weigh in at 70lb+ each.

Ribbon tweeter (superb!), 5 inch mid and 10 inch woofer.

Tri-wired terminals.

True classics from the 1980s/90s - Recently re-foamed mids and woofers so these are in top-notch working order.

A bit on the aesthetically challenged side when 'naked' but with the covers on (which sounds fine btw) they look a lot like Vandersteens.

Very easy to drive - my Leak Stereo 20 vintage valve amp has no problems at all, and sounds wonderful!

£250 - which is stupidly good vfm for the superb sound quality on offer. Pickup (GL17 Glos) or I may be able to deliver.

Happy to demonstrate.

Yep, that is one lovely pre-amp matey. :) Will you ever settle on a system?

Nope. Why should I? - I like trying different kit! :) Loadsa fun!! :smoking:

.... I work on the principle that nothing is perfect and investigating different variations on music playback gives you different perspectives on the music. The idea of staying with one particular set of compromises doesn't appeal at all!

Errr ... howdya mean, Hans? The vintage MF gear is pretty stunning actually! I'd be happy to put it up against most audiophile amps. ;) Them was the Glory Days of MF.

Indeed, Musical Fidelity used to be fine equipment, over engineered, massively powerful with delicacy and slam and musicality, and in some cases the amplifiers could be used as hotplates. :) Great stuff and makes a superb used purchase.

Wouldn't buy any of their new stuff though.

delicacy and slam and musicality

Absolutely spot on .. a near perfect description of the MF A370 / MVX.2 combo. I must confess I am enjoying them hugely .... form a queue here for when I decide to sell them on!

Oh I didn't realise there is such a thing as vintage MF - oops !

I thought it was all about muscle - the owner of MF emphasises the importance of massive Watts !

LOL! It always was about muscle for MF, however they used to do it with sound quality in mind, now they seem to build everything really cheaply, sell it for a fortune by trading on their name, then knock the price down to pennies when a replacement is due. Completely discredits their position and name.
