Ever heard a speaker with a flat (truly flat!) frequency response before? Chances are that you haven't. Well, as measured with my Behringer digital box of tricks, you could use the response of these ROGERS EXPORT MONITORS as a horizontal ruler! The resulting sound is a bit of an eye opener, to say the least, and makes you realise how much other speakers bugger up the music!

Amazing things, 24 inches high, about 12 inches square - the classic BBC monitor proportions (Spendor BC1 etc).
In fact, these have been favorably compared with the classic Spendor BC1 - see the forum thread here http://www.hifiloudspeakers.info/spe...c940a77189d568.
An excellent site with loads of info about the classic Rogers speakers, including these, is here http://www.mhennessy3.f9.co.uk/rogers/others.htm.

3 drive units - bass/mid, tweeter and super-tweeter. These have the better-sounding (folks say), earlier round Celestion tweeter housing - later models apparently use a cheaper square-baffled unit.

These are in fairly decent condition - OK, if you got them new from a retailer in this condition you might have a few words to say. :) But these are circa 30 years old and have been much used (but not abused, I am sure - they aren't that sort of speaker!).

Sound quality is 100%. My experience with these is that a really flat frequency response leads naturally to superb imaging and a 3D soundstage that you just seem to fall into. I found that I had to re-learn how to listen before I cottoned on to what these things were achieving! For the first few minutes it's "hmmm, nice, but what is the fuss all about ?" then something in my brain went click and I just about fell into a vast acoustic soundstage, with individual musicians existing in their own space. Amazing!

These come with the traditional dark-ish grey grills, which are in good condition. You can see one leaning against my Thiel speaker in the photo.

Stands not included in this deal - you'll want to raise them between 8 and 18 inches off the floor for best results.

Sell for £125 (£2 less than I paid for them) or swap for something else that's interesting!I wouldn't mind keeping these but I need the space for my ongoing speaker odyssey, and swmbo is beginning to look a little askance at our speaker collection. :p

I don't have packing boxes for these, so we'll have to meet up or you can collect from me (Gloucestershire).
